Reserving one of our Private Dining Areas

I AM OFF CAMPUS AND WANT TO MAKE A RESERVATION

The Banyan Dining Hall provides two (2) locations for private events.

  • Private Dining Room (2nd floor): Capacity is 72. Room set up (tables & chairs @ no charge) and tablecloths (for $8 per tablecloth) are provided by Catering.

  • Banyan Lanai (1st floor outside): Capacity is 132 with existing tables and chairs that seat 4 to a table. Tablecloths are not provided by Catering. There is no back-up location in case of inclement weather.

 

RESERVATIONS

  • Reservations can be made within four (4) months of the event date.

  • Reservations require a food order and a non-refundable rental fee.

  • A guest list is required.

  • Call 808-675-3348 or email the BYUH Catering office at catering@byuh.edu.

  • Reservations are NOT accepted during University holidays and Catering closed dates. Visit here for a list of these dates. 

  • RESERVATION TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS: (Reservation time is arrival, set up, event time, clean up, and exit.)

    • Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

    • Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

THREE (3) FOOD ORDER OPTIONS

  1. Dine on the Banyan Dining Hall menu downstairs and take your food upstairs to eat in the Private Dining Room or outside at the Banyan Lanai.

    • This option is available for both the Private Dining Room and Banyan Lanai. A non-refundable rental fee of $95 is required.

    • A guest list is required one (1) day prior to the date of the event. Please identify guests as: # of children age 5 and under (free of charge), # of children (age 6-8), # of adults (age 9 and up), and # of Missionaries or Senior Citizens (age 65 and up)

    • Tablecloths are required in the Private Dining Room and provided by BYUH Catering only. Tablecloths are $8 each.

    • There is no back-up location for the Banyan Lanai in case of inclement weather.

    • Full prepayment is due one (1) week prior to the event. If the actual meal count is higher at the time of the event, this additional charge is due at the end of the event.

  2. ​Place a take-out order from our online take out menu and Catering staff will set up a buffet line for meal service.

    • This option is available for both the Private Dining Room and Banyan Lanai. A non-refundable rental fee of $125 is required.

    • A minimum $300 take-out order is required.

    • A guest list is required one (1) day prior to the date of the event. You are responsible to inform all your guests that they are prohibited from dining downstairs in the Banyan Hall or taking food from downstairs up to the private room. Your guests are welcome to patronize the Banyan Dining Hall before, during or after your event after paying for their meal(s) at the cashier’s desk.

    • Disposable paper supplies (plates, utensils, cups and napkins) are provided at an additional charge (visit the online take-out menu for pricing). Guests may provide their own paper supplies.

    • The buffet line for meal service will have tablecloths (inside Private Dining Room only), chafers for hot foods and serving utensils at no additional charge.

    • Tablecloths are NOT provided for guests’ tables at the Banyan Lanai. - Tablecloths are required in the Private Dining Room and provided by BYUH Catering only. Tablecloths are $8 each.

    • Outside food/supplies allowed in both the Private Dining Room and Banyan Lanai: desserts, cakes, drinks and paper supplies.​​​​​​​​

  3. Arrange a catered meal by contacting the BYUH Catering office by phone 808-675-3348 or email catering@byuh.edu for a customized menu proposal (sit-down, served or buffet).

    • This option is available for the Private Dining Room and Banyan Lanai. A non-refundable rental fee of $300 is required.

    • A guest list is required one (1) day prior to the date of the event. You are responsible to inform all your guests that they are prohibited from dining downstairs in the Banyan Hall or taking food from downstairs up to the private room. Your guests are welcome to patronize the Banyan Dining Hall before, during or after your event after paying for their meal(s) at the cashier’s desk.

    • Two (2) weeks prior to the date of the event, the catered meal should be finalized with an expected meal count.

    • One (1) week prior to the date of the event, a guarantee meal count is required. If not received, the expected meal count will be considered the guarantee count.

    • One (1) week prior to the date of the event, full prepayment is due.

    • Final charges will be the guarantee count or actual number in attendance, whichever is greater. However, if the actual number in attendance is greater, we will immediately consult with you for these extra meals; we cannot guarantee the same meal to these guests. We will do our best to assist and will charge accordingly.

    • If the guarantee count is exceeded at the time of the event, we cannot promise providing a meal for the number of guests beyond your guarantee count. We will have to consult with you immediately to see what solution we can provide, if anything.

    • If the guarantee count is not met at the time of the event, there will not be a refund for these meals and they cannot be served or taken away from the event.

    • Tablecloths and cloth napkins are required in the Private Dining Room and provided by BYUH Catering only. The additional charge is $8 per tablecloth and 90₵ per napkin.

    • The buffet line for meal service will have tablecloths, chafers for hot foods and serving utensils at no additional charge.

    • Outside food/supplies allowed in the Private Dining Room: desserts, cakes, and drinks.​​​​​​​​

 

PAYMENT

Prepayments and final payments are accepted here with VISA, MasterCard or AMEX debit or credit cards.

 

AUDIO VISUAL

A ceiling-mounted projector, screen, microphone and speaker are available in the Private Dining Room only. Internet access is available via connection to the BYUH-Secure Wi-Fi network.

 

HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS

A private event reservation requires that all activity be conducted and remain in the reserved area (Private Dining Room or Banyan Lanai) and does not extend or overflow into the Banyan Dining Hall area.

FURNITURE

  1. Only tables and chairs set up in your reserved area are to be used. Other furniture in the Banyan Dining Hall is not to be moved to or used in the reserved area.

  2. All tables in the Private Dining room must be covered with a tablecloth. Do not staple, tape or glue anything to tables, chairs, walls, doors or windows.

  3. Do not sit or stand on tables. Do not stand on chairs.

DECORATIONS

  1. Only painter’s tape is allowed on walls, doors, tables or chairs. No tape is allowed on windows.

  2. Do not hang or tape any decorations from or on media equipment in the room.

  3. Tape, nails, or pins are not allowed on walls, doors, windows, tables or chairs. Straw, confetti, sand, Styrofoam peanuts or similar items are not allowed.

  4. Painting of any kind is not allowed inside or outside the room.

  5. A ladder can be provided, if needed.

  6. Helium balloons are not allowed.

  7. Birthday candles are allowed, but open flames are not allowed.

  8. All decorations must be completed and ready to be displayed and not created or constructed inside or outside the room.

  9. At the conclusion of your event and before departing the room, all signs and decorations must be removed. Please dispose of all trash in trash containers provided in the room.

  10. The room will be checked for cleanliness and any damages and, if necessary, clean up fees will be assessed.

BANYAN DINING HALL:

  • CHILDREN AGES 8 AND YOUNGER should be with adult supervision at all times.

  • Smoking, consuming alcohol, coffee or tea are not permitted.

  • Footwear is required at all times in the Banyan DiningHall.

  • Your guests should park in marked stalls only outside the Banyan Dining Hall or in the Lorenzo Snow Administration parking lot. No parking on any grass or sidewalk area. The loading dock can be used for unloading and loading only.

 

UNIVERSITY POLICY

The University does not permit fundraising or solicitation of charitable donations on campus except as Philanthropies conducts such activities for the University.

Off Campus Reservation

A department account number must be provided for billing.
